My Summer With Aunt Sarah Prologue

Tyler’s parents had been having serious marital issues for almost a year now. Realistically they’ve been having problems for almost the entirety of Tyler’s life, but over the past year they had really come to ahead. It had not gone unnoticed by Tyler’s mother Cynthia that it was starting to have an impact on him. So it was decided that for his summer break between his junior and senior years in high school Tyler would stay with his mother’s younger sister Sarah.

Sarah lived in the neighboring state in a big house on a fairly large piece of property. She could afford this because she worked at a fairly prestigious corporate law firm, which had an office in the neighboring city. Despite being quite attractive, Sarah lived alone because in life she had always prioritized her career over her social life.

The prospect of staying with Aunt Sarah for the summer did not bother Tyler in the slightest. He was happy to get out of the tumultuous house that his parents had created, and loved how large his aunt’s house and property were. Additionally Sarah was always the “fun” aunt, whose gleeful personality always made her a joy to be around.

Tyler enjoyed reading and playing video games, so when he packed his bag he prioritized brining plenty of things to do. He only brought about a weeks worth of clothes since he figured he could just wash them every week with Sarah’s washing machine. His goodbye to his mother and father was bittersweet, but he’d be lying if he said he wasn't ready for a break from their constant fighting and inattentiveness.

Tyler took a long train ride to get to the town where Sarah lived, and from there took a cab to her house. He was still quite impressed with the size of his Aunt’s house, and was looking forward to enjoying it all summer long. When he arrived at her door, he rang the doorbell and awaited the arrival of his Aunt. After a few moments the door swung open revealing Aunt Sarah. Sarah was wearing a long floral maxi dress and looked glamorous doing so.

“Hey Tyler!” Aunt Sarah excitedly proclaimed.

“Hey Aunt Sarah” Tyler bashfully responded.

Sarah stepped out and hugged Tyler, holding him tight and close. As she released him she exclaimed, “ If we’re going to be spending the whole summer together don’t bother calling me Aunt, Sarah will do just fine!”

Sarah took Tyler’s hand and led him inside. Sarah had him put his bags away in his room and come back down stairs. When he returned downstairs Sarah was getting dinner together and asked Tyler to sit in the kitchen with her. Tyler was going to be spending over two months with her, so Sarah wanted to go over some ground rules for the house.

“So here’s the thing, you probably noticed that I’ve got a pretty neat house. I work hard at my job so I don’t like to come home to a messy house. I’m kinda a clean freak.” Sarah said as she plated her and Tyler’s Dinner. “So I’d prefer if you do your part to keep things tidy in here” she said handing Tyler his plate.

“Of course, that’s no problem” Tyler said, taking his plate.

“Well good, I think we’re gonna get along swimmingly” Sarah as she sat down to eat.
