The Met Gala certainly has no shortage of iconic outfits. Other than Blake Lively's 2022 dress there is one dress to me that stands out above the rest! Of course it probably helps that it draws inspiration from a Disney Princess, but what can I say, I'm bias!
At the 2019 Met Gala the theme was camp (which can be defined as over-the-top, gaudy, extreme and playful). While there were certainly many over the top and playful fashions; Zendaya in my opinion was the belle of the ball that night (well belle isn't exactly the right princess LOL). She arrived in a greyish blue dress, and blonde hair, both in obvious homage to Disney's Cinderella, she even came with her own fairy god mother. While both certainly looked wonderful, the best park of the ensemble had yet to begin. Like Cinderella, Zendaya was about to undergo a transformation. The fairy godmother began twirling their wand and suddenly smoke began to emit from it! As the wand turned, Zendaya's dress began to glow blue, and the skirt began to widen (taking that iconic Cinderella shape)! Suddenly Zendaya's greyish dress was now a shining illuminated blue, creating an unmatched magical aura!
What an incredible transformation right?! This is the kind of Disney inspired fashion I love, heavily influenced by the original but with a new twist! Zendaya absolutely knocked it out of the park with this look, it truly felt magical. She really did look like a princess, at a ball that night, here's hoping she didn't have to run home at stroke of midnight! -Carly
